Now You Know

At school we did a one-minute silence.”

“Oh really?”

“Yes, my teacher said we do that to pray for the people died because of a terrorist attack.”

Dalam hati ada rasa prihatin. Anak usia 6 tahun jadi kenal istilah ‘terrorist attack’.

Tapi kemudian semuanya berubah.

Dalam perjalanan pulang dari sekolah suatu hari bocah cerita lagi, “Today we did one minute silence. You know, like the one we did for the victims of the terrorist attack. This time it was for the people who died at Grenfell Tower fire.”

“OK it’s good to pray for those who are having a difficult time”

“Why didn’t Superman or Spiderman come to help put off the fire?”

“Hmm…maybe they were busy somewhere else but I’m sure the fire brigade did the best they could.”

“Hmm…maybe. But can I ask you something Bu? I don’t understand why terrorist attacked other people. Aren’t they supposed to have fun, take pictures, go to museums just like what we do when we are on a holiday?”

“Hmm…maybe what you mean is the word tourists?

“Oh yes that’s what I mean, tourists! So tourists take pictures and go to museum, but terrorists? They attack other people? Now I really know what terrorists means. They are badddd.”

“You’ve got it all right, boy. Now you know.”
